Weed flora composition in a young olive orchard as affected by fertilizer types

Abstract Manure is a useful source of nutrients in olive orchards, but its effect on weed growth such an ecosystem has not been studied. A field experiment was conducted six-year old orchard (cv. Chondrelia Chalkidikis ) northern Greece to study the effects two forms fertilization (inorganic fertilizer and composted cow manure) weeds abundance flora composition (species diversity dominance). randomized complete block design with three treatments fertilizer, 150 kg N ha −1 plus 205 P 2 O 5 K O; manure, 20 Mg dry weight ; control) replicated times used. Inorganic manure had no significant number species (F = 0.288, > 0.05), improved fruit yield by 61.6% 57.1%, respectively, compared non-fertilized control.
